Deer Herd survey

Why Use Thermal Drones for Deer Herd Analysis?

Our deer herd analysis service offers a fast, accurate, and non-invasive way to assess the health of your property’s deer population. Using advanced thermal drone technology, we deliver clear insights on buck-to-doe ratios, herd density, movement patterns, and more — all without disturbing the animals.

Whether you’re a private landowner, hunting club, or wildlife management agency, this service equips you with actionable data to make smarter decisions around conservation, hunting pressure, and long-term habitat planning.

Why Thermal Imaging Makes All the Difference

The image above perfectly illustrates the power of thermal drone technology in wildlife surveying. On the left, using standard daylight or visible-spectrum imaging, several deer are partially or completely obscured by brush, trees, or uneven terrain — making it easy to miscount or miss animals altogether.

On the right, with thermal imaging activated, those same deer stand out clearly against the cooler background. Thermal drones can detect even slight heat signatures, allowing us to “see through” thick brush, shadowed areas, or cover where deer are bedded down or standing still.

This enhanced visibility means you get a much more accurate and reliable population count, which is essential for managing your land, making harvest decisions, or tracking herd health over time.

We can cover an average of 100 to 300 acres per hour. Open areas, such as fields and marsh, are covered fast (e.g. 300 acres per hour); in dense areas, such as pines, we move slower about 100 acres per hour.
